Conestoga is a 230-acre reservoir surrounded by 486 acres of land just 2 miles north of Denton in rural Lancaster County. Conestoga is a popular getaway for visitors from Lincoln and the surrounding area who enjoy fishing, camping, hiking and kayaking.

Fishing

Conestoga offers largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish and walleye in the renovated fishery. The reservoir also offers improved angler access jetties and concrete fishing piers and boardwalks with ADA-accessible features to get anglers closer to deep water.

Aquatic Habitat Project

Conestoga State Recreation Area is the site of one of the largest Aquatic Habitat Program projects completed in the program history; it was completed in 2018. The project improved the quality of the lake along with its fishing and angler access after years of sedimentation and shoreline erosion.

Attractions

All boats are permitted at Conestoga, but speed is restricted to 5 mph.

Conestoga offers 59 picnic tables, 59 grills and two shelters.

Lincoln

Located just 20 miles west of Lincoln, Conestoga is within easy reach of restaurants, stores, museums, and everything else the state capital has to offer.

Denton

Food and fuel are available in Denton.

Camping

Conestoga offers 25 camping pads with 20-, 30- and 50-amp electrical hookups and 24 basic non-pad sites without electricity. Water, vault toilets and a dump station are available. All campsites at Conestoga SRA are first come, first serve.
